Classroom Expectations

In my classroom, we will follow the Hornet Way: Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful. In addition to this, we will focus on learning. I will do my best to follow the Hornet Way and make sure that I am learning throughout the year, and I expect you to do the same.

Grading

• Tests, projects, and papers (if any) will constitute 70% of your grade. Unit quizzes, homework quizzes, and any other quiz or assignment of this sort will constitute 30% of your grade.
• Retakes are allowed on any quizzes or tests. You will only receive the opportunity for one retake per quiz or test. You will have two weeks from the date the initial quiz or test is returned to request a retake. In order to earn a retake in my classroom you must demonstrate the following to me:
  1. A request to retake the test in the form of verbal or written acknowledgement,
  2. Completion of an assignment that I create based on the material tested that shows improvement, and
  3. The initiative to schedule the retake during a time that works for both you and myself.
• Your grade is your responsibility. I am more concerned that you learn in my class than with what grade you receive in it. However, grade matter in terms of progressing to your next class and, eventually, graduating.

You can reach me by email at araines@fulton58.org. I will typically be at school early and will leave school late, should you need me then. Feel free to come to my classroom during your seminar hour on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays as well as during my plan time during 8th hour should you need help.

There may be days where I have to limit the number of people in my room so that it remains a time and place for work to get accomplished.
